4th June- 1st Renal Diet Online Session

Introduction

On 4th June, we began a dedicated session focused entirely on the renal diet. When a CKD patient progresses to dialysis, several changes occur in lifestyle, medications, and especially diet, which often leads to confusion. During OPD follow-ups, many patients come with numerous questions and myths regarding food choices. To address this, we initiated online renal diet talk sessions, where our renal dietitian provides practical guidance tailored to the daily challenges of dialysis patients, with a primary focus on dietary concerns.

1st Renal Diet Online Session – All about Renal Diet

An online session on the Renal Diet was conducted by Dr. Trisha, Renal Dietitian, exclusively for dialysis patients. The talk focused on five key aspects of the renal diet which are protein, phosphorus, potassium, salt intake, and fluid intake. Patients were given clear guidance on how to manage these nutrients effectively, and practical demonstrations such as monitoring daily salt intake were also shown to make the advice more applicable in their daily lives.

The session was highly interactive, with patients actively engaging, asking questions, and clearing their doubts. They expressed that the discussion enlightened them with proper guidance and helped reduce confusion around dietary restrictions. The practical tips approach was well appreciated, making the talk a successful and impactful initiative that empowered patients with confidence to follow their renal diet more effectively.
